The Velocity Construction Mission
Our mission is to give each of our clients such a positive experience that whenever they hear a friend mention a need for a general contractor, they pull out one of our business cards to share. We are here to get our hands dirty and ultimately provide our clients with good work, reasonably priced, performed in a timely manner by a licensed and insured contractor.
The History of Velocity Construction
Originally named Maintenance Resource Group, Velocity Construction began in 1995 when the owner of a property management company saw a need for better quality renovation and maintenance work than what they could get when outsourcing those tasks. They would often be asked to fix mistakes and new problems created by other Nashville renovators hired for repairs, and they wanted to find a better way to serve the community.
By starting their own renovation and construction company, they were able to be onsite for these projects themselves, which allowed them to provide their clients with quicker communication and project turnaround time than was otherwise available.
Because the Velocity team has always been in it for long-term relationships rather than quick sales, this new process was a huge win for them.
2002
Seven years later, they rebranded as West Main, which was a play on words from their property management business and their Main Street location. Business picked up so much that they brought on a full construction team. They built everything from the public restrooms at Pinkerton Park to several Barnes & Noble stores.
With the recession in 2007, they had to scale back to smaller jobs like property maintenance.
2016
As the economy flourished once again, they decided to bring back their renovation services and rename themselves Velocity Construction. They chose this name because they wanted to focus speed and efficiency with their services, and they got their general contractor’s license.
2022
In early 2022, the team decided to place a stronger focus on projects like home additions. Now, we manage 60-80 projects each year and we’re looking to expand even further.

We genuinely care about our clients’ desires and preferences and work tirelessly to ensure every part of the process is up to our high standards, especially details like accessibility. We have skilled maintenance technicians on staff, but their technical skills are only a part of what makes up a Velocity Construction team member. They’re vested in your project as well. When our clients are happy, we’re happy.
We’ve been astounded time and again by the poor communication our clients have experienced with other construction companies. We make a point of providing nearly real-time updates to our clients for each phase of the process, from job estimate to job completion. As we listen carefully to each customer’s specific needs and desires for a project, we often hear how much they appreciate our timely communication and sincerity.
When you reach out to us about a project, we’ll set up a meeting to visit your home with you as soon as possible. We do this to make sure we have all the necessary information we need to give an accurate quote and to make sure we understand any special requirements, for example, accommodations for family members who have disabilities or those who wish to age-in-place.
Once you’ve reviewed our quote, we’ll be available to answer any questions you have. Then you’ll approve the quote by signature and pay a deposit, securing your place in our schedule.
There’s usually a bit of a wait time since our services are in demand. Even during the waiting period, though, we will keep you in the loop so you will know where we are on schedule with other projects and when we expect to start on yours.
Once we’ve begun your project, we’ll keep you updated via text, email, or phone – whatever you prefer. When we’ve completed the project, we’ll do a final walk-through with you to create a punch list of any remaining things that you’d like to have done.
Our Team
Hoil Crowe
Hoil has been with the company since the beginning. Born and raised in the Brentwood/Franklin area, he graduated from Tennessee Technological University with an accounting degree. The founder, Debbie Burns, brought him on shortly after starting the company, and he’s been an integral part of the company’s growth and success.
